Laser Hair Removal
Are you tired of daily shaving, painful plucking and expensive waxing? Stop applying short term solutions to a long term problem. Laser hair removal is the safest and most effective method to permanently reduce hair on the face and body. At Medical Park Consultants we use the latest in laser technology to remove hair on all skin types and genders.
Understanding Laser Hair Removal
All body and facial hair goes through 3 distinct phases of growth; Anagen, Catagen & Telogen. At any time, 85% of your hair is in the Anagen phase(activegrowth) where you get best results from a laser hair removal treatment. This is because the follicle(dermalpapilla) is closest to the skins surface. The laser beam is able to target the follicle, heat it and destroys the hair.
Will laser hair removal work for me?
At Medical Park Consultants we use Cynosure Elite+, the safest and most effective lasers allowing us to treat all skin types and ethnicities. The Cynosure Elite+ lasers utilize different wavelengths to target the hair follicle while leaving the surrounding skin untouched. Laser treatment is most effective on darker hair as it is best absorbed when there’s more pigment. Our Cynosure Elite+ lasers ensure we can get good results even if you have darker skin.
How many sessions will I need?
Because only hair in the active growth phase, or“Anagen”phase can be affected by the laser, multiple sessions are required(between6-8) . Between treatments hairs in the Catagen and Telogen phases will move into the Anagen face when they can be targetted. Effective results require treatments spread evenly. Our recommendation is once every 4 weeks for facial hair and every 6-8 weeks for body hair.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Cynosure Elite+ lasers treat the area with a cooling jet of air to keep you feeling comfortable throughout your laser hair removal treatments.
How to prepare for laser hair removal?
For laser to be effective, the hair must be present in the follicle at all time – hair removal methods that pull the root out will make your laser treatments ineffective so avoid waxing, threading, sugaring, tweezing, and hair removal creams. You can shave in between treatments but please remember that laser treated hair will start to fall out of its own accord 1-2 weeks after your first treatment.
Avoid bleaching your hair as there’s no pigment in bleached hair for the laser to target.
We cannot treat anyone with a tan, real or fake. If you’re tanned, the laser would need to be on a higher setting which increases the chance of you getting burnt. Avoid sun exposure post-treatment as this can cause skin discoloration.
What are the expected results?
A series of treatments are typically needed to achieve the optimum results, although noticeable results are seen after just one treatment.
Most patients that get laser hair removal treatments find that they are hair free for an extended period of time, even permanent. As long as you go for the proper number of sessions, you’ll be able to rid your body of hair forever. Most patients find that they are completely hairless after about 3-5 sessions. However, the hair can sometimes grow back in certain spots so a few touch ups may need to be administered down the road.
How much does it cost?
Please schedule an appointment at our office and ask for a quotation. Compared with a lifetime of shaving, waxing or plucking, Cynosure Elite+ Laser can be a worthwhile investment in both time and money-savings.
